A tragic road accident took place yesterday morning in the Narayanpatna block of Koraput district. More than 45 people were injured. The injured were immediately rushed to Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon Group Health Centers for treatment.
Similarly the critically injured were shifted to Koraput Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital. On hearing the news, Narayanpatna police reached the spot of the accident and started an investigation.
As per the information we received, more than 45 people from Jangidiwalsa (ଜାଙ୍ଗିଡିବାଲସା) village under Bandhugaon block were coming to Jamdawalsa (ଜାମଡାବାଲସା) village under Narayanpatna block to attend a wedding in a tractor (AP-39T-8679).
At around 11 am, the tractor lost balance and overturned in the middle of the road. As a result, more than 45 people in the vehicle were injured. Meanwhile, Narayanpatna Block Education Officer Raghunath Pangi was returning home from a visit to schools when he saw an accident.
Later, BEO Shri Pangi and other staff members informed the ambulance. The injured were later shifted to Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon Group Health Centers by ambulance and auto.
9 people, including four children, were being treated at the Narayanpatna Group Health Center, while one of the children had a broken arm, said Dr Laxminarayan Nayak. However, the critically injured were shifted to Koraput Medical College and Hospital.
