The India Meteorological Department (IMD) yesterday predicted thunderstorm activities in several parts of Odisha over the next 48 hours. As per IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, a thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur in several parts of the State starting from today.
A yellow warning has also been issued in this regard. The weather department further said that there will be no large change in the maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places in Odisha during the next 3-4 days.
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.
In South Odisha districts like Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Gajpati have the yellow warning. A few days ago, heavy rains were seen in the Rayagada district that destroyed trees in various areas. As a result, traffic was disrupted in the district.
The Rayagada district administration is working hard to ensure that such a situation does not occur again. Rayagada district and its surrounding districts have also prepared themselves & are ready to deal with the thunderstorm, as per our sources.
