There is still more Maoist activity in the Machhkund area of the Lamtaput block and the Baipariguda block than in the other blocks. Yesterday the Koraput police have found some Maoist materials from a forest under the Narayanpatna block.

Koraput SP Shri Varun Gunthupalli told in a news conference that the security forces in Odisha and BSF teams had been beefed up in the area. He said that on the night of the 10th, special sources said that an explosive device had been planted in the Paching (ପାଚିଂ) forest of Narayanpatna.

Old explosives have been planted in the forest near Paching and Balkapai (ବାଲକାପାଇ) villages in the Narayanpatna block. A Maoist operation was carried out along with a DVF and a bomb disposal team.

In the search operation, one gun, a 38mm anti-aircraft bullet, a rubber bullet, four liquid-form explosives and a cutting pillar were found. All the materials are confiscated by the police team.

The confiscated weapons are believed to be linked to the Koraput armoury robbery case. However, 9 anti-aircraft guns were stolen from the Koraput armoury a long time ago and an investigation is underway to find out whether the guns are at that time or not.
