Odisha-Andhra Pradesh joint police forces destroyed Raw Liquor, Rayagada

Smuggling of liquor is rampant along the Andhra-Odisha border. Seeing the forest areas, hills and riverside, the wine mafia is making local wine (ଦେଶୀ ମଦ) which are being sent to different villages in both states.

Andhra Pradesh and Odisha excise police have launched a joint operation after receiving accurate information. After raiding in the locations, they created a record destroying 7000 litres of raw liquor.

With the new excise license, smuggling of liquor along the Koraput, Kandhamal and Kalahandi borders with Andhra Pradesh is on the rise. Many old vendors have continued their business through smuggling after being denied licenses.

In this regard, Police after receiving information from their secret sources, with the help of both excise and police from both states they raid yesterday. During the raid, the police destroyed and confiscated (ଜବତ କରିବା) large drums with raw liquor, large pots and other wine-making utensils.

Last week, Ashish Singh, Commissioner of Excise, visited Rayagada and reviewed it. Since then, both the police and the excise department have been on high alert.

With a stern order from the commission to curb the smuggling of liquor, he discussed with the Andhra Pradesh Police and the Department of excise and here is the result. In this raid, no person is arrested as of now as per the information we received.
