Minor Girl Rape Case: The accused is sentenced to 25 years in Jail

A minor girl rape case has been heard in the Jeypore Fast Track Special Court yesterday. Additional District and Circuit Judge Pradeep Kumar Sasmal delivered the verdict.

The judge sentenced Govind Tadingi (ଗୋବିନ୍ଦ ତାଡିଙ୍ଗି) of Borigi (ବୋରିଗି) village under Narayanpatna police station 25 years in prison and fined Rs 20,000.

The judge further instructed that if he did not pay, he would face up to 12 months in prison. According to sources, in 2017, an eight-year-old minor girl rape case was heard in the Koraput district.

On November 11, 2017, Govinda Tadingi went to the girl’s house and raped her taking the advantage of the fact that there was no one in the house Govinda fled the scene after hearing the girl’s mother’s voice.

After hearing everything from the minor, the victim’s family complained to the Narayanpatna police station on November 14 of that year. The verdict was handed down by Shri Pradeep Kumar Sasmal.

Based on 19 pieces of evidence Govind Tadingi (23) of Borigi village, was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 376 (2) of the IPC and fined Rs 10,000 and 15 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of the Pokso Act.

The court also ordered the government to provide Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the victims. The case was handled by Public Prosecutor Gayatri Devi.
