Mango prices have risen sharply & selling at ₹150 per kg on Market

Mango prices have risen in the Dharmagarh sub-division under Kalahandi district this year. The mangoes are selling in the market at Rs 150 per kg. According to traders, the price of mangoes has risen by 50% this year. 

According to the Dharmagarh Horticulture Department, 20 hectares are being cultivated in the Dharmagarh block, 50 hectares in the Jaypatana block, 56 hectares in the Kalampur block, 70 hectares in the Koksara block and 100 hectares in the Junagarh block. 

It produces 7 to 10 tons of mango per hectare. According to him, the production of mangoes in the Dharmagarh sub-division is about 40,000 tonnes. 

However, due to adverse weather and extreme heat from the onset of the mango season this year, the mango crop has been affected by about 50%, said Tankadhar Kalo, assistant director of horticulture. 

During this time last year, large quantities of mangoes were harvested in the Dharmagarh sub-division. Farmers have made a good living despite the cut-off, but farmers in the Dharmagarh sub-division have expressed interest in growing mangoes. 

Mango cultivation is growing on 40 to 50 hectares of land every year. The National Horticulture Mission is giving an annual stipend of Rs 12,350 to mango farmers for three years, while the Chief Minister’s Agriculture Scheme has a subsidy of 40 to 50% of the project cost for mango farming.
