The Odisha government has urged everyone to wear masks during Rath Yatra to prevent the spread of corona disease and prevent further increase in corona cases in Odisha.
The 9-day annual festival of Jagannath Rath Yatra festival will begin tomorrow and it is expected that lakhs of devotees would gather in the pilgrim town to see the chariot festival.
Tight security arrangements have been put to ensure the smooth conduct of the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings in Puri. Large numbers of police personnel have been deployed to give proper security arrangements to the devotees and tourists.
The chariots of Lord Jagannath, Subhadra and Balabhatra are ready and have been put near the temple for the yatra tomorrow. Similarly wearing masks was made mandatory for devotees coming to see the annual Rath Yatra.
The festival of Lord Jagannath this time will see the participation of devotees after two years. In 2020 and 2021, only the temple priest and police personnel took part in rituals due to the pandemic.
