There is good news for those who have lost their jobs in this corona pandemic situation and are in dire straits. HDFC, the country’s one of the largest private banks, has announced plans to employ 2,500 people.
The bank aims to reach out to the people by setting up branch networks in approximately 2,00,000 villages. People will be able to get jobs in the next six months, the bank has informed in a press meet.
In the next 1–2 years, HDFC will expand its branch network, Business Correspondent, Business facilitators, Common Service Center partners, Virtual Relationship Management and digital platforms across the country.
A few days ago, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman gave priority to banking services in rural areas. The decision was taken by the HDFC following a statement from the finance minister. According to HDFC, the bank will be able to reach rural areas after the expansion of the network.
As a result, ordinary people can easily connect with the banking sector. The service is still inaccessible in rural and semi-urban areas of the country, usually in terms of credit and loans. “The bank has a big role for the development in these areas,” said the Bank’s group head.
