Cannabis smuggling is rampant in Malkangiri district of South Odisha. Almost every day we hear the news about cannabis smuggling. However, the local police are very active in seizing the ganja and arresting the smugglers.
Yesterday the Mathili police team seized 309 kgs of Contraband Ganja. According to reports, the police team received a tip-off that a huge amount of ganja is going to be smuggled out of the state from the Malkangiri-Koraput area.
Based on this information, on Tuesday night the Mathili police team were doing night patrolling and at that time they were able to seize the 309 kgs of contraband ganja. They further arrested four smugglers in connection with this.
The accused were from the Koraput district area. The police team further seized two motorcycles, three mobile phones and cash of Rs.5410/-. All 4 people were arraigned in Court yesterday and a further investigation is underway, said the Mathili Police Officials.
