Since the beginning of the summer season, the drinking water problem was irrupted in many villages of Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district of South Odisha. Such a similar incident was seen in the Tatamanguda (ଟାଟମାନଗୁଡା) village under Doraguda panchayat Chitrakonda block.
In the village of Tatamanguda, a solar water tank has been installed for the past two years. But that was stopped working after 6 months. As a result, many villagers are forced to drink spring water.
After the villagers complained, some people came from the administration to repair the tanks and check why the water was not coming. Upon examination, the water motor was found to be in poor condition.
They took the motor and after the motor was repaired, several more came for motor fittings. They opened everything – the motor, the pipeline etc and took the motor back. The village has been facing water problems ever since.
People are struggling with drinking water. Later, people also met the local sarpanch and asked to resolve the issue, but to no avail. Even after going to the block and submitting a report to the BDO, the water problem in the village has not been resolved.
“The villagers are urging the government to take immediate action.”
