Cold Wave is Expected to Intensify in Southern Odisha from January 3

Night temperatures in many parts of the state are dropping below normal. It has been raining in various districts of Odisha for the last four days. But now after the drizzling & rain winter is back again.

Daringbadi had a low of 9.5 degrees Celsius today, while Phulbani had a low of 11.5 degrees Celsius. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), night-time temperatures will drop by about 3-5 degrees Celsius over the next 4 days. 

As a result, the state will experience more cold. From January 2, the state will be affected by cold and dry winds from the North-West direction. In some places, the night temperature will drop drastically. The cold wave will continue mainly in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh and some parts of Balangir district.

Fog is expected in some parts of South Odisha in the next 24 hours. According to Professor Surendranath, an agronomist and meteorologist the night temperature in January would be lower than in December 2021.

As a result of dropping temperatures in the state in February, the effects of the winter will continue. South Odisha, especially in March and April, will experience hot due to high temperatures. 

With normal temperatures in June and August, the monsoon is expected to return this year in perfect time. The weather is likely to be partly cloudy on January 7 and 8 in the Chhattisgarh border area. As a result, there may be light rain in some areas.
