Bank employee arrested for extortion of Rs 80 Lakh, Boipariguda

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) cashier R.Santosh Kumar Dora was arrested yesterday by Boipariguda police under Koraput district for extortion of a huge amount of money from the bank.

According to the incident, on 20th August, Indian Overseas Bank branch manager Prabir Kumar Pradhan filed a written complaint in Boipariguda police station that while calculating the deposit money in the bank, he found that there was a discrepancy of 80 lakh rupees.

While calculating the amount of deposit of the bank and the money from the ATM and the money in the bank, it is not matching and shows a gap of Rs 80 Lakh.

Based on the complaint, Jeypore SDPO Arup Abhishek Behera and Boipariguda police station IIC Ashwini Patnaik started an investigation. According to the preliminary investigation, the said cashier Santosh Kumar Dora is the one who cheated 80 lakh rupees.

The accused cashier himself confessed that he was engaged in such work for more than one year now and he had the key of the ATM and cash locker. He admitted that he bet money on cricket matches and played online games.

The police suspect that some other people may be involved in the money laundering case. A further investigation is going on to find out who else is involved in this case, said the Boipariguda station officer.
