A fire broke out on Jeypore’s Nua Sahi yesterday. One autorickshaw with 14 bikes was destroyed in the blaze. Firefighters were called to the scene but were unable to contain the blaze.
After the incident, the owner of the house said someone had set fire to vehicles in the parking area of his home due to previous hostilities. Jeypore town police have registered a case and are investigating.
The bike and auto parked in the parking lot of Prabir Mohanty’s house in Jeypore’s Nua Sahi caught fire. The people who are living there in rent immediately informed the owner by telephone. Firefighters then arrived at the scene and tried to contain the blaze.
But almost all bikes and one auto-rickshaw were burnt to ashes before the fire was extinguished. Town police also arrived. However, the owner of the house, Mr Prabir Mohanty, told the town police that someone had set fire to his bike and auto. “After the investigation, the truth will be known,” police said.
