Kalahandi police have had great success yesterday. Police were able to stop the illegal ganja smuggling and also arrested 10 people. A total of 427 kg of cannabis (ଗଞ୍ଜେଇ) worth around Rs 17 lakh was seized from them.
According to reports, Jaipatna police received a tip-off from their sources that a huge amount of ganja was smuggled in a pickup truck at Jaipatna on Friday.
After that in the patrolling, there were able to seize two trucks (OD-08L-6226, OD-33AA-2027) and one motorcycle (OD-08G-4118). Along with this, five mobile phones and 11,650/- hard cash were also confiscated from them.
The ganja was being transported from Andhra Pradesh to Koksara in the Kalahandi district, Dharamgarh SDPO Shri Dhiraj Chopdar said. A case had been lodged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
