A large tumor was removed from the uterus of a woman after successful surgery at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Koraput. The woman is identified as Raila (ରଇଲା) of Gulmijhala (ଗୁଲମିଝଲା) village in Rayagada district.
After two hours of tireless work paid off as the woman is now healthy. Dr Jagdish Chandra Behera, Assistant Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics, informed that a tumor weighing about 14 kg was removed from the woman’s uterus.
According to sources, on 5th August, a woman from Gulmijhala village of Rayagada district was admitted to Koraput Hospital for treatment due to stomach pain. 2 years ago the tumor was growing in the body.
Dr Gopal Naik, under the leadership of surgeon Dr Basudev Marandi and with the help of nurses, a successful surgery was performed and the large tumor was removed from her body.
“It was complicated and the tumor was removed after two and a half hours of surgery”, the doctor said. The doctor informed that the patient is now healthy. The family thanked all the doctors for the successful surgery to remove the tumor.
